Certified Loons? |
Who? A chief executive, chairman, senior manager, consultants, current and retired company owners, finance director and European civil servant. All successful and well known in their field. All with responsibilities. But essentially all with the taste for adventure, spirit of discovery and not afraid to challenge themselves.
Why? Why not? Without challenges and trying to overcome them (even if we fail) we do not develop ourselves; whether it be biking across an unknown country, trying something new for the first time, or aiming to be an above average student. We need to climb 'mountains'. And as long as there are mountains to climb, people like us will continue to climb them; sometimes without a safety net.
Returning to the UK (en route to Belgium) I can't help seeing the other people on the tube and in the streets and thinking to myself: I've been on an adventure, I have...... And I have, and I had a bloody good time! Can't wait for the next one.

Well said.....for those who have NO RESPONSIBILITIES, want to show they are super-macho (or still that way) and want to say they are seemingly in the prime of their lives for DARING, DANGEROUS, DISTINCTLY-DIFFERENT, DASTARDLY adventures. You on the other hand have succeeded in convincing your family that this is a safe mission (at least your wife says so to me) but I'll bet if only she knew the truth (or were you simply embellishing the dangerous nature of your mountainous trips in your blogs?????.
Perhaps she and the kids had many sleepless nights wondering if they'd ever see you again and whether finishing College would now be more of a challenge should "heaven" not be in your cards. But you don't care! You are selfish, immature and continue to be highly irresponsible and want to prove something to OTHERS, not just to yourself. You have much growing-up to do in spite of all your challenging adventure in your leather outfits and helmet and nazi-looking boots.
But I am happy you, and all the others, made it through safely. !Buena fortuna!
