I have been given a DR650 Suzuki. Bigger than the usual engine size we get. But it doesn't make much difference and feels more or less the same as the 250cc Honda XR I had in Cambodia and able to lug up most trail inclines in second gear.
The roads remind me of Cambodia and India. A little chaotic, lights and indicators optional, and the trucks spew thick black smoke like they do the world over. My throat is sore with dust and soot.
We ended the day at a huge statue of Jesus similar to the one in Rio, arms outstretched atop a hill. A group photo in the setting sun and copycat poses by the huge statue ensue.
This trip seems like it will be a lot less technical than Cambodia, more trail than off road, and mountains like we saw in the Himalayas. Tomorrow we leave Cochabamba at 2600m and head straight up to over 4500m across a pass before dropping back down to a lower level to sleep.
Weatherwise today was hot; not Cambo hot, but hotter than I expected, so we needed to drink plenty of fluids. Tomorrow should be cooler with the altitude; a relief.

You are obviously using European date and time for your reports. It will add authenticity if you use LOCAL date and time. But that is MY view.
WRONG date shown on here. It should be June 5, 2013 not June 6.
