The ride starts tomorrow, so it's potentially another day of sightseeing in Kathmandu. However, this morning one of our group, Glenn (someone I've not met before) has arranged a visit to a school in a 'nearby' village. The school was badly damaged during the two recent Earthquakes and we're going to see for ourselves, and if we can, to provide some humanitarian aid, direct to where it's needed, not via an aid agency. We've been hearing stories about how some of the relief aid, that flowed in after the Earthquakes, is stuck in Kathmandu, but more of that later.
However, maybe not the best day to choose to drive through Kathmandu. Gridlock; roads closed and total chaos with cars, vans, trucks, bikes and our bus, driving seemingly in random directions like ants in a nest, but in slow, slow motion..... and with horns! Toot-toot, tooooot, we're definitely back on the sub-continent.
As I type, we are still stuck in traffic after having done a U-turn at the end of a muddy lane. Now we're back in the jam, no closer to our destination. I hope we get back in time for the ride tomorrow!
