Morocco Madness Day 4

Tibadabo #1. But doing it on a motorbike is cheating. A friend who lives in Barcelona regularly runs to the top at 520m above the city, and if he was there I would have joined him today. But no, he's in Austria, climbing even higher this week. Viewing the city from this high vantage point is all we have time for as a lunch appointment in Valencia awaits.
As a complete contract to cold and wet yesterday, today is boiling hot and we're sweating just loading the bikes with our luggage.

Minimal clothing, but the essential protective is a must. The local riders don't bother and t-shirts and shirts seems deriguour. In this heat it's debatable who is more sensible.

It's a three hour ride on the motorway and there's a headwind, but we make good progress even negotiating the tolls with ease. But our fast progress and the headwind means that we have burned through our respective tanks much faster than usual. My bike dies very suddenly making me think there's a major problem, but it jumps back to life as soon as I switch to reserve. But the next fuel stop can't come soon enough and I slow a little to eek a little more range from the reserve tank, which I'm not trusting these days. Only 17 litres to fill. Christopher's needed about 20 - his large rear end creates a lot of drag! 🤣

We reach Valencia and meet up with another long lost friend of mine, and I introduce Christopher to the legend that is Esther Val!

It's been a long time and we catch up on gossip and regale Christopher with our funny stories about conferences and work events - good times. I'm sure we bored Christopher 🥱.

Lunch is late, well this is Spain, and we don't leave until 1830, having booked our accommodation in Murcia just before leaving. On our way out of Valencia we admire some of the architecture in the buildings; it's a shame we don't have more time to look around, but we're on a very tight schedule.

It's a long schlep to Murcia, and it's dark when we get to the hotel. And of course the lift is broken and we're on the second floor, so we have Sherpa all our gear manually. We sweat at the beginning and the end of the day! 🥵
After our late lunch, we're not that hungry, but it is McFlurry o'clock! Followed by a fries chaser 😵‍💫.
