MdS Food

As if 250km through the desert isn't enough, one thing that makes the event even tougher is that you have to carry your supplies with you.  All food for seven days, your sleeping kit, stove and emergency/medical kits. Fortunately, water and shelter are provided.

Here's a photo of the food that I'll be carrying through the MdS, it's about 2500 kCals per day, plus my homemade hot water stove, top right. Cordon Bleu it is not, but hopefully it will keep me fueled sufficiently to finish the event. Carefully selected based upon advice gained from the internet and previous competitors reports, it's mainly dehydrated and easy to prepare using a spoon and hot water. It's arranged in daily rations composed of breakfast, trail mix and energy supplies, recovery shake, and evening meal, each package labeled with its calorie content. On a tip from my father, I've also include daily sachets of vinegar to stave off cramps that I get rather too easily.  A few tasty treats are included to entice my taste buds after a hot day in the sand - slithers of Parmesan cheese and some salami type snacks - after all, I am a bit of an animal!
